108 Sun Salutations Fundraiser

With Karen Cove and Carolyn Poplack

January 1,2020
1:00PM-3:00PM
Danforth Studio

Our 9th annual fundraiser at The Yoga Sanctuary is open to all yogis and yoginis to start the New Year right – with 108 Sun Salutations.

Delivered in an accessible way for all levels of practitioners, this event will lay the foundation for a healthy and positive New Year!

Join Karen and Carolyn from 1 to 3 PM for this brilliant meditative practice that challenges both the body and the mind.

The number 108 has many sacred connotations in various cultures and philosophies. Renowned mathematicians of Vedic culture viewed 108 as a number of the wholeness of existence.

This number also connects the Sun, Moon, and Earth; the average distance from the Sun and the Moon to Earth is 108 times their respective diameters. Such phenomena have given rise to many examples of ritual significance. According to yogic tradition, there are 108 pithas, or sacred sites, throughout India. And there are also 108 Upanishads and 108 karma points, or sacred places of the body.

Often practiced to welcome the seasons, we will be offering this celebratory event to welcome 2020!

If you are unable to attend the event this year, we welcome you to register, donate and invite your friends/family to sponsor you to participate in this yogathon. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the Canadian Mental Health Association and all online donations over $10 will qualify for a tax-receipt.
